GUEST LECTURE:

1.GUEST LECTURE ON “EXCLUSIVE BREAST FEEDING: COUNSELLING FOR NEW MOTHERS”:

 A Guest Lecture was organized by department of Child Health Nursing on “Exclusive breastfeeding: counselling for new mothers” on 31/08/2021 at Ramaiah institute of nursing education and research. The Guest Lecture was delivered by Dr. Maheshwari.M, an international board certified Lactation consultant, she emphasized on the benefits of breastfeeding, initiation, positions, correct latching and management of breast feeding related issues.

2. GUEST LECTURE ON “PREGNANCY AND BIRTH: AN AYURVEDA PERSPECTIVE”

The department of OBG nursing, Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research, organized a guest lecture on “Pregnancy and birth: An Ayurveda Perspective” on 30.10.21.The guest invited was Dr. Savitha S Patil, Professor and H.O.D, Prasuthi thanthra and Sthree roga, Sri Sri Ayurveda Hospital, Bangalore .She explained about the ayurvedic approaches in preconception care, pregnancy and puerperium. Management of gynaecological disorders were also discussed in brief during the lecture. This lecture gave students an insight about importance of dinacharya and yoga in the maintenance of health. 46 students belonging to 3rd year GNM, 4th year B.Sc. nursing, 1st and 2nd PBBSc. Nursing, 1st and 2nd MSc. Nursing were benefited by the lecture. The students asked several doubts regarding the ayurvedic management of obstetric and gynaecological problems.

 

3. E-POSTER PRESENTATION ON “COMMON SOCIAL PROBLEMS”:

E-poster presentation competition was organized on “Common social problems” (illiteracy, poverty , substance abuse and AIDS) on 07.09.2021 and 08.09.2021 from the department of sociology for 2nd year B.Sc. nursing students. Students participated actively in the competition.

 

4. ORIENTATION WORKSHOP ON “ORIENTATION TO REVISED B.Sc. NURSING SYLLABUS”

          A Virtual training program was organized by Indian Nursing Council on “Orientation to revised B.Sc Nursing syllabus” for all the nursing faculty from 01.09.2021 to 04.09.2021 on Zoom platform. All the faculty of RINER have actively participated in this virtual training program.

 

 

5. SADBHAVANA DIWAS CELEBRATION:

Sadbhavana Diwas was organized at Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research, Bengaluru-54, through National Service Scheme Unit on 18-08-2021.The programme began with the NSS Invocation song. Significance of the day was explained. The main theme of “Sadbhavana” is to promote good will, national integrity and communal harmony among the people of India irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The theme is promoted by taking “Sadbhavana Day Pledge”. Programme ended with the NSS power clap.

 

6. Guest Lecture on “Role of Psychiatric Nurse Consultant”

A Virtual Guest Lecture was organized by the Department of Mental Health Nursing on “Role of Psychiatric Nurse Consultant” on 20.12.2021 at Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research. The Lecture was delivered by Dr. Arunjyoti Baruah (Ph.D), Professor and HOD, Department of Psychiatric Nursing, LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Assam. 150 participants were benefited from the Guest lecture.

7. PULSE POLIO IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME-2022

I year GNM and III year GNM students (83 students)  of RINER actively participated in Pulse polio immunization programme from 27th February 2022 to 2nd March 2022 under Mathikere Urban Health centre, Sanjay Nagar Urban Health Centre and Aramane Nagar Urban Health Centre. Around Total of 3,250 underfive children are vaccinated against polio.

                                                  

 

8. GENERAL HEALTH CAMP

III year GNM students have participated in the general health camp organised by Ramaiah Medical College Hospital in collaboration with Sadasmitha foundation, Amuruthahalli on 6th of March 2022 at Byatarayanapura,Bangalore. The people were screened for hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cataract of glaucoma, musculoskeletal problems and neurological problems.  500 beneficiaries were benefitted out of this camp.

 

9. Tenth Annual Workshop on “Basic Research Methodology”

Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research (RINER) in collaboration with Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences conducted the Tenth annual workshop on “Basic Research Methodology” from 9th March to 11th March 2022.  The workshop was attended by forty-eight delegates that included PG students from nursing, Physiotherapy and Public Health, UG nursing students and nursing faculty from different parts of Karnataka. The resource persons were from RINER, Life and allied health science, RUAS, St.John’s Research Institute, Ramaiah International Centre for Public Health Innovations and Ramaiah Medical College. All participants highly appreciated the scientific sessions and expressed their satisfaction about the workshop.

10. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

On the occasion of International Women’s day on 15th March 2022, RINER had organized Essay competition on Gender based violence: Why women are target and Panel discussion on Women empowerment – Thoughts from Indian states for nursing students. Around 43 students had participated in Essay competition and student representatives from various states such as   North, North-East, West Bengal, Kerala and Karnataka actively participated in panel discussion. The event was followed by prize distribution to the best speaker of Panel discussion.

11. FACULTY WELFARE PROGRAMME: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The International Women’s Day was celebrated by RINER on 15th March, 2022 at RINER auditorium. The event was attended by all teaching faculty and students of RINER. Dr. Sonali Jadhav Tarachand, Prinicpal, RINER highlighted the importance of Gender equality and contribution of women in nursing. Teaching faculties including male faculty also expressed their views and opinion regarding Gender bias and equality on the occasion of International Women’s Day, 2022.

12. Blood Donation Camp 2022 

 A blood donation camp was organized by National Service Scheme unit of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research in collaboration with Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Blood Bank, Bangalore on 18th March 2022. From 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM with the aim to create awareness and motivate students for Blood Donation.

                        Staff and student volunteers showed interest in donating blood. A total of 73 units of blood was donated by the staff and student volunteers of RINER, Bangalore. A Certificate of appreciation and refreshment was given to each donor as a token of gratitude for the successful voluntary donor camp.

 

13. IPR AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research in coordination with division of  Ramaiah Intellectual property right cell organized faculty awareness programme on 25th & 26th March 2022. The faculties were sensitized about patents, copy writes, trademarks, and Ramaiah IPR policies. 

   

14. LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY AND GRADUATION DAY-2022

Lamp lighting ceremony for the 31st batch of B.Sc Nursing and 29th batch of General Nursing Midwifery of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research was held on 14th of April 2022 at Ramaiah Medical college auditorium, Bangalore. On the same day a total of 68 students from 26th & 27th batch of B.Sc, 18th & 19th batch of Post Basic B.Sc and 27th & 28th batch of M.Sc, who passed out during the academic year 2019-20 & 2020-21 received their graduation certificates from the Chief Guest Major General Elizabeth John, Former Additional Director General of Military Nursing Services (ADGMNS), Indian Army. Chief guest shared real life experiences to motivate young budding nurses to work in hospital with patients by “Healing Touch”. Major General Elizabeth John also gave away special awards to students performing best in academics, bed side and to the overall best performing students.

       Dr. Sonali Jadhav, Principal presented the college report for the academic year 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Invited guests from Ramaiah group of institutions along with special guests, parents and guardians of the students attended the ceremony in large numbers.

15. REGIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

A team of 16 students from Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research participated in Regional Football Tournament organized by Rajarajeswari College of Nursing on the occasion of World Health Day on 5th April 2022. Mr.Shibin Abdulla from 2nd year B.Sc(N) won “Man of the match” trophy in the tournament.    

16. INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY -2022

Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research celebrated  International Nurses Day-2022 on 12th May 2022. Principal and faculty expressed their views about the International nurse’s day theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health” . 

17. Dr. Sonali Jadhav, Principal RINER

  • is selected as a scholar in the Global Nursing Leadership Institute (GNLI), Geneva, Switzerland, 2022 cohort and has also received full Bursary from World Bank to pursue this program. She is first from the private sector to be selected for this program from India.
  • presented a poster on the study titled “Development of ontological framework to map the undergraduate nursing curriculum for its NCD risk reduction education” content at a consultation event organized by Access Health International in collaboration with NITI Aayog, New Delhi on 24th May 2022. Dr.Arkalgud Ramprasad, Professor Emeritus of Information and Decision Sciences at the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA was her mentor.

delivered a session on “Invest in nursing – How can nursing education in country be improved” during the second conference organized by  Association of Nurse Executives (India) on 27th May 2022.

18. INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY -2022

International Yoga day was celebrated on 21st June 2022 at Dwaraka Auditorium, Ramaiah Campus. Total 48 students and 1 faculty actively participated in performing various asanas led by Mr. Nagendra. B.N Yoga Instructor, Ramaiah Indic Specialty Ayurveda – Restoration Hospital. The session followed common yogaasanas and its importance.

19. WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK- 2022 ( 1st August to 7th August 2022)

World Breastfeeding week is celebrated on the 1st week of August every year.   This year’s Breastfeeding week theme is Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support”. Breastfeeding week was well planned and organized by Departments of OBG Nursing, Child health nursing and community health nursing of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (RINER) with collaboration of the Department of Paediatrics Ramaiah medical teaching hospital.

 During Breastfeeding week, August 2022, different activities were conducted each day at Mudalpalya Maternity Home, OBG OPD of Ramaiah Medical College Hospital, Srirampura Referral Hospital, Hunasamaranahalli subcenter,Bangalore. faculty from the Departments of OBG, Child Health Nursing and  Community health nursing and students of III year GNM, IV year BSc [N] and MSc nursing, RINER actively participated in each activity. 

 

Day1 –  2nd August 2022

  1. Model and Poster Presentation at Ramaiah medical teaching hospital, Bangalore

    M.Sc Nursing Postgraduate students actively participated in giving education regarding benefit     of breastfeeding, stigmas on breast feeding.

 

  1. Breast feeding awareness programme at Mudalpalya maternity home, Bangalore

Day 2- 3rd  August 2022

Faculty from Ramaiah nursing college, 3 III GNM, 9 IV year B.Sc Nursing  and 1MSc nursing students  actively participated in giving education on exclusive breastfeeding,- early initiation, position, benefits and management of common issues of breast feeding ,diet to enhance breast feeding to 42 mothers at  OBG OPD Ramaiah medical college hospital.

 

  1. Essay Writing Competition:

Topic: Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support

B.Sc Nursing 10  students and M.Sc Nursing 4 students participated in essay writing competition. Ankita Bhattachariya (4th Year), Renu Malik (1st Year Ms.Sc), Mainsh Chetti (4t Year), Mamata Jadhav (4th Year) students won prizes.

 

Day 3 – 4th   August 2022  

  1. Breast feeding awareness programme at OBG OPD, at Sanjay Nagar Urban Primary Health Center, Bangalore

Faculty of Ramaiah nursing college has conducted a awareness programme on exclusive breastfeeding,- early initiation, position, and benefits, management of common issues of breast feeding ,diet to enhance breast feeding  to 25 mothers with their family members.

  1. Painting Competition

Nursing officers from hospital, M.Sc Nursing 4 students participated in painting activity and Arundathi (1st M.Sc) won 3rd prize.

Day 4 and 5 –  8 and 9 th August 2022

  1. Peer counsellors training programme at Hunasamarenahalli sub center, Bangalore Rural

 

As a part of breast feeding promotion and awareness programme Peer counsellor training programme was conducted and  25 women were selected as peer counsellors at Hunasamaranahalli village, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

These women where trained on 1 st day regarding antenatal and postnatal preparation of mothers

for breastfeeding, demonstrated with infant mannequin techniques of breast feeding, using hand

puppets demonstrated correct latching method.

On 2 nd day these women’s where trained with the help of model and charts about identification

and management of minor ailments related to breastfeeding and also discussed common concerns

of mothers related to breastfeeding.

The knowledge level of these identified peer counsellors was assessed before and after the

awareness programme. Their was significant improvement in the knowledge level of these

women’s after the training programme.

At the end the doubts of these women’s were discussed and they were encouraged to identify

antenatal and postnatal women in their locality and create awareness and promote breastfeeding

among them.

                

  1. Quiz Competition

Under graduate and Post graduate Nursing students participated along with PG doctors and Nursing officers. Renu Malik (1st year) won 1st place, Tannu Thapa (2nd M.Sc) won 2nd place and Sylvester Francisco (3rd B.Sc) won 3rd place.

Day 6 – 10th August 2022 at Srirampura referral hospital Bangalore.

7 III GNM students ,30  IV year BSc nursing students actively participated in giving education  on exclusive breastfeeding,- early initiation, position, and benefits, management of common issues of breast feeding ,diet to enhance breast feeding  to 35 mothers at Srirampur referral hospital Bangalore.

  

 

20. ANNUAL SPORTS AND CULTURAL MEET “UMANG” -2022 ( SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER -2022)

Student Nurses Association, RINER organized Annual sports and cultural meet “UMANG-2022” from 26th August 2022 to 29th August 2022 with wide range of sports and cultural activities for students. House wise competitions of outdoor events: Football, Badminton, Volley ball, Table tennis, Cricket etc. and indoor events; Fashion show, Dance, Song, Rangoli etc. were conducted. Many students participated in all the events with good sportsman spirit. Annual Sports & Cultural meet ended with prize distribution for the winners of various competition.

22.NSS ACTIVITY

The NSS unit of Ramaiah institute of Nursing education & Research Bangalore in partnership with UNICEF organized first phase activities on Engagement of NSS Volunteers for Social and Behavioural Change Among the Communities to avail Health and Nutrition Services in Karnataka. The following activities were carried out as part of this programme.

 

  1. Role play on personal hygiene was conducted on 15th September 2022 at Government primary school, Hosahalli. 65, students aged between 6-11 years were benefitted by this programme.

 

  1. Mass anaemia screening was organized on 22.09.2022 at Hunasamaranahalli, Government school, Bangalore rural. A total of 100 adolescent girls were screened and 35 girls were found to be anaemic.

   

 
 

  1. Menstrual hygiene awareness programme was conducted on 30.09.2022 at Hunasamaranahalli Government School. A total of 60 adolescent girls benefitted out this activity.

   

 

 

  1. Arogya Sangeeta Mela was conducted on 28.03.2022 at Government higher primary school, Nagashattihalli around 500 school children participated Mr.Ambareesh, Singer, Naada Surabhi Samskruthika Kala Balaga sang the remakes of Kannada folk songs that delivered a message an importance of balanced diet and immunization.

   

 

23. POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION (November 2022)

Poster presentation competition was conducted on the occasion of “National Cancer Awareness Day” for M.Sc. Nursing , B.Sc.(Post Basic) Nursing and for B.Sc. Nursing students on 3rd November 2022. The posters were displayed at college auditorium for creating awareness about prevention of oral cancer, cervical cancer and breast cancer. A total 12 group of students participated in this event.

Ms. Himashree Das, Final year PG student, Dept. of Mental Health Nursing, RINER won the 2nd prize in Best Scientific Paper Presentation in 21st Annual conference of Indian Society of Psychiatric Nurses (ISPN) held at Gopal Narayan Singh University, Jamuhar, Rohtas.

RINER student achievement

A Guest Lecture was organized by RINER, Department of Mental Health Nursing on “Youth and addiction” on 25.11.2022 at Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research. The Lecture was delivered by Dr. Prabhat Chand, Professor of Psychiatry, addiction psychiatrist at centre for addiction NIMHANS. The Guest lecture was attended by 110 students and 10 faculties of RINER.

From, Dept. of Mental Health Nursing,RINER a training session for security staff, RMCH on “Aggression Management” was conducted on 27th September in psychiatric ward by Dr. G Balamurugan, Associate professor, Dept. of Mental Health Nursing RINER. Total 10 security guards participated.

  • On “Lesson Plan writing” was delivered by Mrs.Sangeetha.X. Lecturer on 22nd October 2022 at 3.00 p.m to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers in developing student centric lesson plan. Total of 26 teaching staff were participated and benefited from this CNE.
  • On “FORMULATION OF EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES” was delivered by Mrs.Vanitha.N, Asst.Lecturer on 7th November 2022 at 3.00 p.m to update the knowledge and skills of teaching faculty. Total of 26 teaching staff were participated and benefited from this CNE.

Dr. Sonali Jadhav Tarachand, Principal RINER spoke about “Reflecting success of past and challenges of future- Nurse Leader of today and tomorrow” on State level conference on Nurse Leadership Resilience organized by College of Nursing, St. Martha’s Hospital on 07.12.2022.

 
   

 

 

GUEST LECTURE ON “NATURAL BIRTHING

The department of OBG nursing, Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research, organized an online guest lecture on “NATURAL BIRTHING” on 09.12.22.The guest invited was Ms.Anitha Tudi, National Midwifery Educator, Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad. She explained about positive birthing and also shared her experience in assisting birthing women. A total of 140 participants (85- offline, 55-online) including faculty and students belonging to 3rd year GNM, 4th year B.Sc. nursing, 1st and 2nd PBBSc. Nursing, 1st and 2nd MSc. nursing were benefited by the lecture.

 
   

 
Paper Presentation

Mrs. Salome. P Associate professor, Department of Medical surgical nursing, RINER attended Health Care Global Nursing Conference 2022 titled: “Building and sustaining the future of Nursing” organized by HCG the specialist in cancer care on 10th December 2022 and presented a scientific paper titled “Effectiveness of reflexology on nausea vomiting among patients receiving chemotherapy” and won 1st prize.

Workshop

A workshop on “Geriatric Mental Health Care for Nurse Educators” was organized jointly by Geriatric Psychiatry unit- Department of Psychiatry and Department of Nursing, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, in collaboration with faculty of Health Sciences, Norway on 15th December 2022. The objective of the workshop was to brainstorm Global and Indian scenario of Geriatric Mental Health, training the basic health care needs of elderly citizens, exploring volunteering opportunities from Nursing colleges, and to address the need for curriculum revision in geriatric mental health with relevant recommendations. Principal and faculty from various nursing college of Bangalore had attended the workshop. Dr.G.Balamurugan, Asso. Professor & Mrs.Kusum Gurung, Lecturer, Dept. of Psychiatric Nursing, RINER attended the workshop.

 
   

 

EXHIBITION ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS

As a part of the departmental activity, students of I year P.B.B.Sc & M.Sc.Nursing under the supervision of Ms.Lumina.S, Asst. Lecturer organized an exhibition on 17th December 2022 in Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education at Research, Bangalore.
The objectives of the exhibition were to help the students understand the concept of growth and development and to encourage team work. The students participated with great enthusiasm and were highly benefited.

 
   

 

NATIONAL CONFERENCE REPORT

AMs. Ramya.S. N, Lecturer department of Medical Surgical Nursing, RINER, delivered a session on Flipped classrooms using virtual reality technology at National conference on 14th December 2022 at Vivekanandha College of Nursing, Tiruchengode, Nammakal District, Tamilnadu.

 

 

CHRISTMAS 2022 CELEBRATION at RINER

Christmas was celebrated at RINER on 24th December 2022. The Student Nurse Association (SNA) organized a programme like skit, carol songs and dance. The celebration ended with cake cutting and distribution.

Students of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research won 2nd prize in Street play competition on 5th April 2023 organised by Department of Community Medicine, Ramaiah Medical College as a part of series of events for ‘World Health Day 2023- Health for all’.

Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research (RINER) organized Eleventh annual workshop on “Research Methodology” from 19th April to 21st April 2023. Total thirty seven delegates participated. A one day workshop on “Implementing Respectful Maternity Care (RMC)” was conducted by Aastrika Foundation for the III GNM, IV BSc, I PBBSc and MSc Nursing students of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research, staff nurses working in labour room and OBG wards at Ramaiah Medical College Hospital and Ramaiah Memorial Hospital at Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research on 19th April, 26th April and 3rd May 2023 for small groups of 18 participants respectively.

International Nurses Day Celebration 2023

On 12.05.2023, Student Nurse Association, Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research organized “NURSE-A-THON”, an inter-college competition on the occasion of International Nurses Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. Theme for this year is “Our Nurses, Our Future”. The event included inauguration of the program by Dr. Sonali Jadhav Tarachand, Principal, RINER, Dr. Radha MS, Vice principal, RINER, Mrs. Lima Mathew, Nursing Superintendent, RMCH and HODs which was held in the main auditorium of RINER.  Distinguished guests, faculty members, and students were present during the celebration. The event began with an invocation and the lighting of the lamp, welcome dance followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Sonali Jadhav Tarachand, Principal, RINER who deliver a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of nursing and the valuable contribution nurses make to the healthcare industry. The Inter-college competition had over 120 nursing students registration from various nursing colleges of bangalore. Various events were conducted such as photography, videography, essay competition, painting, sketching, best out of waste etc. Winners of each events were awarded cash prizes and certificates. As part of fostering entrepreneurship skills among nursing students, a dedicated area was set up with stalls showcasing various innovative products and services. The nursing students took the opportunity to demonstrate their entrepreneurial abilities by creating and managing these stalls. The International Nurses Day celebrations at RINER received generous support from various sponsors such as Jaypee Publications, Rehamo Rehab and mobility concept store, and Tagore Institute.

WORLD BREASTFEEDING -2023 REPORT

World Breastfeeding week -2023 was celebrated on 4th August 2023 by Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (RINER) and Sanjaynagar Urban primary health centre collaborated with Rotary International to organize an education programme to sensitize the public on the importance of exclusive breast feeding. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Nayana Tara Patil, Medical Officer of Health East Zone, BBMP, Dr.Usha Rani, Medical Officer,  Dr.Sonali Jadhav Tharachand, Principal, RINER, Mr.Pranjit Dutta, President, Rotary international. The students of RINER performed a mime show on the importance of breastfeeding. Dr.Radha.M.S, Vice-Principal, RINER, Mrs.Usha Bai, Lactation Nurse, Ramaiah Hospital and Ms.Priyanka.G.K, Asst. Lecturer, RINER enlightened the participants by delivering talks on exclusive breastfeeding. Total 75 participants were benefited from this programme.

 

Guest Lecture

On August 7, 2023, a guest lecture was conducted at the Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and research on the topic “Challenges Faced by Primi Mothers in Successful Establishment of Breastfeeding.” The lecture was delivered by Ms. Usha Bai, Lactation Nurse from Ramaiah Medical College Hospital.

 

SPORTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS:

Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research, Football team of 5 members participated in SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, BENGALURU organized Sports and cultural events on the occasion of UTOPIA 2023 on 31st July 2023. RINER students won Football trophy.
