The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Ramaiah Institute of Nursing
Education And Research was been established in 2014-15. The NSS unit is
approved by Rajiv Gandhi Institute Of Health Science, Bangalore with the enrolment
of more than 400 nursing students till date. This unit has been working for the cause
of community and is rendering its service towards the social issues as envisaged in
the objectives of the National Services Scheme.
The National Services Scheme unit has set up the following aims, objectives in
order to increase students participation in important social and community activities.
These objectives are set by the department of youth and sports affairs ministry,
Govt. of India.
AIMS:
Holistic development of the youth
Utilization of youth services to mitigate social issues.
Provide a variety of learning experiences which will develop a sense of participation, service and responsibility among the volunteers.
OBJECTIVES:
Understand the community in which they work
Understand themselves in relation to their community
Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
Gain skills in mobilising community participation
Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and practise national integration and social harmony
The NSS activities conducted by our college are:
Blood donation camp
Health camps
Eye check up
Pulse polio immunization
Health screening of women for musculoskeletal problems at garment factory
Breast feeding awareness programme
Fire safety drill
Awareness programme on antenatal care at Srirampura and Hosahalli referral hospitals
